How to cook Dulong or Silver Fish Patty

Filipino food are one of the most simple to prepare yet very nutritious. In this article, I am going to feature an old dish that is often being prepared in every Filipino household. This simple food is called “Dulong” or Silver Fish Patties and I am going to teach you how to prepare this dish in detail and simplicity. All you need are fresh ingredients, a little know how and lots of love.

The Ingredients

You will only need 3 ingredients for this delectable dish.

  • Half kilo of Silver Fish or Dulong in native Filipino
  • A quarter kilo of Celery
  • 3 Cups of flour

Mixing of Ingredients

Preparing the ingredients is very simple and straightforward. You can actually do it in less than 10 minutes.

  1. Make sure that you purchase fresh dulong or silver fish. It is easy to know if they are fresh because they will give you that bright silvery shine.
  2. Minced a quarter kilo of Celery stems and mixed it with the silver fish.
  3. Put 3 Cups of flour and mixed properly

Once done, you should have a paste that looks like the picture below.

Cooking Process

Cooking Dulong is very easy and simple too. Fire-up that stove and heat up your frying pan. Pour in some cooking oil and once it is hot enough, follow the steps below.

  1. Make sure that you lower the heat of your stove as referenced on the picture below.
  2. Put about 2 spoon full of dulong paste in your frying pan and spread it until it forms like a burger patty.
  3. Cook the first side for about two and a half minutes until it turns golden brown.
  4. Turn it over to cook the other side for about two minutes.
