People are now panicking involving the rumor about the dreaded Flesh Eating Skin Disease in Pangasinan, Philippines just a few days ago. This may sound like one of the plagues during the biblical days where a great number of people are suffering from a contagious skin disease which tore up the flesh of those who are infected. Fortunately, the Department of Health has belied the reported flesh-eating disease.

Health Secretary Enrique Ona has assured the public in his statement that there is nothing to worry about. There is no reported case of ‘flesh-eating’ skin disease in the country yet. Absolutely no reason for the public to panic. The two cases of flesh-eating skin disease that were reported were merely a case of a 21 year old girl being treated by leprosy in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, while the other was suffering from a case of severe Psoriasis in Villasis, Pangasinan. Both patients are already undergoing treatment and medication.

This article is meant to inform the public that there is no need to panic. Even so, though the news about the flesh-eating skin disease seems to be false, we would still advise everyone to take the necessary precautions to avoid any diseases that can compromise your health and life. If ever you know a case that is not mentioned in this article, we would request you to share it with us by leaving your comments.
