Former Actress Liezl Martinez Died After a Long Battle with Cancer

Former actress Liezl Martinez died on Saturday morning, March 14, after a long battle with breast cancer. Liezl Martinez is the wife of actor Albert Martinez and only daughter of veteran actors, Amalia Fuentes and Romeo Vasquez. She was 47.

Liezl Martinez has been in the hospital since Monday. Anna Lisa “Liezl” Sumilang Martinez died peacefully in her sleep at 6:15 a.m., March 14, 2015. The former actress is surrounded by her beloved husband, Albert Martinez; precious children, Alyanna, Alfonso, and Alyssa; loving mother, Amalia; father, Bobby; and her relatives at this time of grief.

Actress Liezl Martinez, wife of actor Albert Martinez died Saturday morning after several years of battling cancer.

Liezl Martinez’s breast cancer was diagnosed in 2007. She recovered from this, but in 2011, her cancer spread to her left lung and she had undergone specialized treatment to battle the disease. However, despite of her condition, she was still able to serve as one of the members of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Coming from a famous showbiz clan, Liezl Martinez started her showbiz career as a child star. Among her movies were : “Portrait of an Angel”, “Liezl at ang 7 hoods”, “Ibulong Mo sa Puso” and “Poor Little Rich Girl”, the movie that launch her to fame. Liezl and Albert have been married for three decades. Their relationship was one of the most solid in showbiz.

Albert Martinez posted a photo of their trip to Barcelona in Spain in 2013 last week on Twitter he said : “#Barcelona2113… advance Happy Birthday @liezlmartinez… Next #Hawaii2015!”

Albert Martinez supported his wife throughout her battle with cancer and even make sure that her wife lives a normal life as possible. He posted a photo of their trip to Barcelona in Spain in 2013 last week on Twitter, “#Barcelona2113… advance Happy Birthday @liezlmartinez… Next #Hawaii2015!” he wrote. Liezl Martinez would have turned 48 on March 27.

Liezl Martinez’s wake will begin on Sunday at Heritage Chapels in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Her family were thankful for the prayers offered by the public, however, the family wishes to have a private moment with their beloved Liezl.
