Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo both grew up in Stockholm and created a music that you can both laugh and cry, with. Their biggest hit is, I love It, which was used and featured in several television series. The duo received an international following when their debut single Manners which had been was released by Neon Gold. Since September of 2012, they were based in Los Angeles and New York. From then on, several press people have praised the two. To prove, the Guardian has described the duo’s debut single Manners, as effortlessly cool.

They also got the chance to work with producers like Style of Eye, Patrick Berger, Elof Loelv and Starsmith. During the fall of 2012, Icona Pop has released an extended play Iconic in the US and the album Icona Pop in Sweden. They have already performed in Sweden, US, UK, Germany, Italy and Canada. The duo also graced in the summer of 2012 in a number of festivals including electro music festival the Summerburst in Gothenburg and they also appeared at the Stockholm Stadium for the opening salvo of an international festival.

More so, their single I Love It, a pre-release of their self-titled debut album Icona Pop charted on the official Swedish singles chart. The song was also featured in the 2012 video game Need for Speed: Most Wanted. This was featured in a Coca-Cola German TV commercial. in January, it became the theme song of the American reality-TV series Snooki and JWoww. It was also heard in an episode of the American comedy drama TV series Girls and the popular vampire teen drama TV series, The Vampire Diaries. Meanwhile, their second single Ready for the Weekend was released on September 11, 2012. As expected, both singles are included in their second extended play album which was released on October 16, 2012. Ultimately, the song I Love It, was used in the advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

In 2013, the duo toured around the United States with Passion Pit and Matt Kim. Also, in that same year, I love It was featured in the episode of the second season of Girls. At the onset of March 2013, they were named as one of Fuse Television’s 30 Must See Artists at the South by Southwest Festival. Again, I Love it was featured in the 16th episode of the 4th season of the Vampire Diaries and the song was performed on the second week results of the show, Dancing with the Stars. Similarly, Icona Pop also performed I Love It on the late night talk show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and on Good Morning America, a morning news/entertainment show. Thus, it was also featured in the Fox musical comedy series, Glee.

Lastly, on June 4 of 2013 the duo has released their new single Girlfriend. Incidentally, they further revealed in an interview that they recorded their international album with all-new songs. Icona Pop said that their new album is not just going to be a 16 track one like I Love It; and they are trying new genres and sounds. It was in July 2013 when the duo received a recognition in the Teen Choice awards for Choice Music Breakout Group and Choice Single Group. On August 4, 2013, the duo visited Montreal where they participated in the annual OSheaga Festival.
