Jodi Arias Trial Update. The nearly seven-year-old case that attracted worldwide attention has finally come to its end. Judge Sherry Stephens formally sentenced convicted murderer Jodi Arias to life in prison without parole for killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander after a stormy relationship. Prosecutors say she murdered him in a jealous rage because he wanted to break off the relationship.

The 34-year-old Jodi will spend the rest of her life in prison after the judge declined Arias to be eligible for release after 25 years.

Jodi Arias sentenced to natural life in prison.

On June 4, 2008, Jodi Arias killed her on-again-off-again boyfriend Travis Alexander, a salesman in his house in Mesa, Arizona. His body was discovered by his friends in a shower at his home, wherein he sustained multiple stab wounds, a slit throat, and a gunshot to the head.

Alexander’s friends immediately pointed to Arias as a likely suspect. And explicit photos recovered from a digital camera found in Alexander’s washing machine showed that the murder occurred after a tryst between Arias and Alexander.

They had photographed each other naked in bed, and Arias had photographed Alexander in the shower where he was found. One photo even showed his bloody body lying on the floor.

At trial, Arias testified that she killed Alexander in self-defense. She was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8, 2013, and was sentenced Monday to natural life in prison after two juries could not reach an unanimous decision on whether to sentence her to death.

Jodi Arias Trial is one of the more dramatic and notorious murder trials in recent Arizona history.
