Kim Chui is a Cebuana beauty, who was the first teen ever to become a victor of the Pinoy Big Brother The Teen Edition. Kim vested 13 other teen housemates. In real life, she is Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu. She was born on April 19, 1990. Besides being gifted with a beautiful face, Kim Chui has a very positive disposition and an unbelievable sportsmanship trait, that made her one of the early favorites in the PBB house. Despite of having some family problems at that time, she made everyone laugh with her antics. She sang and played the guitar with other teen housemates Gerald, Matt and Mikee. Responsible as she was, she made sure that she had finished all the tasks given to her by her housemates without any hesitation. Among these were: Eating exotic Filipino food, sticking out her tongue for an hour and many more. Charitable at heart, she participated in the group which was tasked to provide moral support to Jamilla’s son, Miggy, who had a cleft palate. Kim graciously gave her best for the remaining sets of medical operation to be shouldered by some of the doctors at St Luke’s Medical Center, Philippines.

It was also during her entry in the PBB house that she became vocal about her family problems. There, Kim openly revealed the reason behind as to why she grew up in the care of her grandmother. It was only in 2013, when she finally reconciled with her father. Unfortunately, a month after the meeting her mother fell into a coma and died  a week later due to brain aneurysm. When her young heart was badly broken, she became a certified man hater. But, dearly found Mikee as too irresistible and became her ultimate crush. From that time on, they became inseparable. Kim also found comfort and friendship in Gerald Anderson, a Filipino-American teen housemate. As a result, a cute love triangle had emerged and eventually she won the first Teen Edition of PBB.

After winning, she appeared in different ABS-CBN TV shows together with other ex-teen housemates and became part of Kapamilya network. She also became one of the newest endorsers of Bench, a local clothing line and was paired off with Gerald Anderson in print advertising and the denim collection of Bench. From there, the two starred in a television program for ABS-CBN entitled Love Spell. In 2007, this Chinese cutie from Cebu starred in the primetime series Hoping Someday It Will Happen Once Again, with Gerald.

The series was a huge success and gave her the nomination and eventually winning the Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards as the Most Promising Female Star and Best New Female TV Personality. With these achievements under her belt, the series was released in Taiwan with Chances as its title. As expected, it became a phenomenal hit as well.

Did you know that singing is one of the many talents of this petite young girl? To date, she launched her debut album with a title Gwa Ai Di which includes the single Crazy Love. Since then, lots of movie and advertising offers came pouring in. She starred in the movie I’ve Fallen For You under Star Cinema and became a familiar face in TV ads.

Some of these were for Rejoice, Bench Apparel, Chowking, Nescafe, Olay and Cherry Mobile among others. It was in 2009, when she starred in the TV series The Two of Us and it gave her several acting awards. Just the same, Kim’s movie I love you Goodbye became an official entry to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. It was her first film playing as a villain and her first film to ever hit Php 100 million box office mark. Again, this has earned her several nominations in different award-giving bodies. She won in the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival as Best Supporting Actress.

Her film, How Would It Be Now? was released both locally and internationally. Immediately, it was followed up by a well-received primetime teleserye If Ever We Would Be Apart which became the highest rating teleserye in 2010. It was also during that year, when she was ranked as No.1 among the 100 Most Beautiful Stars of Philippine Showbiz..

Meanwhile, the horror film The Healing was Kim’s first stellar with premiere Filipina and Lipa City mayor Vilma Santos. Consequently, she had remarkably proven time and again that she is not just a pretty face but a versatile actress as well. Her outstanding performance raked a number of Best Supporting Actress nominations from almost all film award-giving bodies. Incidentally, her popular teleserye Mother, Sibling, Child was awarded as the Best Teleserye of the Year of 2013 in Philippines’ Yahoo OMG Awards. Thus, the same teleserye gave her another award as Best TV Drama Actress.

After her success in films, Kim Chui returned to primetime TV through Only You, a periodic drama that paired her with Coco Martin. Julia Montes and Jake Cuenca. The said TV series holds the No.1 spot in viewership ratings based on its time slot.
