The Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has seemed somewhat not satisfied with being one of the best boxer on earth. Almost two months ago, PBA coaches welcomed Pacquiao’s entry to the world of coaching via a newly created professional basketball team Columbian Autocar Corp or Team Kia. Now, it was reported that the eight-division boxing champion purchased an undisclosed amount of shares in Asia’s largest Mixed Martial Arts, ONE Fighting Championship (One FC). Victor Cui, One FC chief executive officer made the confirmation and expect with the presence of Manny Pacquiao will help boost the mixed martial arts scene in Asia.

After Flipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao include his name as a head coach of the Philippine Basketball Association team owned by Kia Motors, he now step into the cage of Mixed Martial Arts as an investor. ONE FC CEO Victor Cui said,

“I’m pretty pumped. There are a ton of reasons why I’m pretty excited about this. Obviously, Manny Pacquiao is a global sports icon and having him as a part of our organization as a shareholder and promoting One FC and promoting the sport is huge for the sport in the region. It promotes awareness and growth.” He added, “There are a lot of common fans and common ties with MMA and boxing [in the Philippines] and MMA awareness is much stronger than it is in other parts of Asia. Manny has been looking for some opportunities outside of boxing, and he and his team have kept an eye on the sport of MMA. It made a lot of sense to him,”

The 35 year-old Manny Pacquiao is the current WBO welterweight champion and is scheduled to return to the boxing ring to face New Yorker Chris Algieri on November in Macau. Also, in a recent TV interview, the boxing champ said he still wants to fight five more times before he retires and announced his plan to run for senator in 2016.

Meanwhile, former UFC talent Brandon Vera and women’s boxing champion Ana Julaton have been signed to One FC contracts. And as for ONE FC next event, it will take place on August 29 in Dubai, with Julaton scheduled to face Malaysia’s Ann Osman.
