A person’s death is just a flickering candle in the night. When the flame has died down, everything will be filled with darkness. This has been a common scenario when the final curtain call falls down on us. But, veteran actor Mark Gil who died of liver cancer had a different concept of it. He wants to be remembered as an optimistic person who perceives death as a celebration of life. No more pains, no worries. During the momentous tribute to one of the greatest actors in Philippine Cinema, his estranged parents Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil came.

Also, his siblings Michael de Mesa and Cherie Gil never missed the happiest journey of their brother in the afterlife. Last Wednesday, his wake was opened to the public although his remains were immediately created at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City. Among those present were his wife for 18 years, Maricar Jacinto. Moreover, his beloved children had expressed their final goodbyes to their ever supportive loved one. As we all know, some of them had followed his footsteps. To name a few, both Gabby Eigenmann and Sid Lucero have exceptionally exhibited their respective acting prowess as GMA-7 talents. For quite sometime, Andi Eigenmann had a short stint of the glitz and glamour of local showbiz.

Mark’s closest friends in the industry also paid their last respects to the former lead star of the movie, Batch 81. Celebrities like Gretchen Barretto, Gary Lising, Tirso Cruz III and Melissa Mendez all had kind words for the late actor. Until the very end, Mark Gil never dared forget that this life is temporary. Therefore, he has to leave a legacy that will not leave the hearts millions to whom he owed his illustrious career for more than 30 years.
