Nonito Donaire Wins Featherweight Crown

The winning streaks of Filipino boxers seem to be unstoppable. This came after Nonito Donaire has won the much coveted featherweight crown over South Africa’s pride Simpiwe Vetyeka in Cotai Arena Macau. However, the tremendous fight was suddenly stopped after the Philippines’ Donaire had suffered a swollen left eye and a cut due to an accidental headbutt. To settle the issue once and for all, the three judges had scored 49-46 in favor of Donaire.

During the first few rounds of the fight Donaire had begun so slow. But, he knocked down Vetyeka in the second round. Ultimately, the fourth round was said to be the turning point of their breathtaking duel. In the end, he successfully knocked out his opponent with a strong left hook. Overall, he was terribly disappointed with the outcome of the fight saying that,

It’s disappointing that things ended the way it did and hopefully we can do it again.

After his expected victory, the Filipino Flash has now a record of 33 wins, 2 loses and 21 knockouts. Congratulations, Nonito Donaire.
