Sam Tsui is an American musician and internet celebrity who rose to fame via YouTube. He is is best known for covering songs by popular artists like Adele, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars.

Also, Tsui is popularly known for his original songs, medleys and mashups. On the other hand, Kurt Hugo Schneider is an American video editor, musician, singer and songwriter who makes use of YouTube to post live music videos. Just a street away from Sam, the two are practically neighbors. Eventually, Hugo became Tsui’s accompanist and producer at the same time.

Tsui made his TV debut on ABC world news October 28, 2009 when he sang I’ll be There, by The Jackson 5. He also performed on The Bonnie Hunt Show in November of that same year. From there, he was invited to several TV appearances including It’s On with Alexa Chung where he sang Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing for the cast of the American TV series, Glee. He and Kurt Schneider produced a series of episodes of College Musical, a comedy web series spoofing The High School Musical film series. This features all original songs which were beautifully composed by Schneider. The series became a phenomenal hit and was later announced that a film will be made based on it. As a result, those episodes managed to get millions of views on YouTube.

In December 2010 he gave an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and performed a mashup of Katy Perry’s Firework, and Bruno Mars’ Grenade with Schneider. His song together with Christina Grimmie, Just A Dream is the most viewed video on YouTube Channel’s KurtHugoSchneider with more than 80 million views.

In 2011, Tsui debuted his own YouTube channel apart from his collaboration with Kurt Schneider. Aside from being a music genius, Tsui, unknown to many graduated from Yale as magna cum laude with a major in Classical Greek in 2011. Amazingly, He is excellently proficient in C++ programming. Through the years, he and Kurt Hugo have been working together since high school when they recorded a certain music with an electronic keyboard and a garage band. They both attended school at Yale University where their musical partnership all started.

With the release of his first full-length original album in May 2013, the duo toured Canada and US. In September 2013, they performed in Singapore and Hong Kong and had released a music video for Make It Up single, Grey Area, Shadow, Bring Me the Night, Worth It and Wherever You Are. While Schneider also made music videos collaborating with other artists. Other popular videos include a Miley Cyrus medley sung by Christina Grimmie and a Starcraft –themed parody video. He also spoofed the infamous Friday, by Rebecca Black with his variation being known as Void Rays. He also worked with Max Schneider on several occasions, a Maroon 5 medley and a Christmas Medley. Similarly, he also co-wrote Standing in China with Max Schneider for Cody Simpson’s album.

In 2013, Kurt Hugo teamed up with Coca Cola to create music videos featuring creative covers from two 2013 hits Feel so Close and Of Monsters and Little Talks for a campaign called The Sounds of AHH. The commercial edits of the hits premiered on the first episode of the American Idol Season 13. In the new versions recreated by Schneider, he is shown making the track playing only Coca-Cola bottles and cans. Feels So Close features the voice of Sam Tsui whereas the track Little Talks he’s musical accompaniment was the one and only beatboxing cellist, Kevin Olusola.
