With potential front-runners The Strain, Lucifer and Gotham already revving up their engines of their latest season, one particular title is also clawing its way back on mainstream TV: Scream Queens.

After a stellar 13-episode first season, Fox and co-creator Ryan Murphy, Bard Falchuk and Ian Brennan are keen on bringing Chanel Oberlin and the rest of the surviving Kappa Kappa Tau back on the big screen for yet another round of horror comedy but this time, as Murphy pointed, it will be a “new horror genre”. What he means is that Season 2 will be a reboot, and fans will see them transitioning from the halls of Wallace University to a creepy hospital with a creepier past three years after. Forget the Red Devil; bizarre medical cases and other mysteries will be the new pink this season.

The obvious question on the other hand will be the cast. Of course, fans will know that Pete (Diego Boneta), Boone (Nick Jonas), Gig (Nasim Pedrad), Earl Grey (Lucien Laviscount) and Chanel #2 (Ariana Grande) won’t be coming back since they fell in the hands of the Red Devil, while survivors Grace (Skyler Samuels) and dad Wes (Oliver Hudson) are yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the original Scream Queen Jaime Lee Curtis will be back as Cathy Munsch but this time, Curtis will be running the hospital. With her are Oberlin (Emma Roberts), Billie Lourd and Abigail Breslin as Chanel #3 and Chanel #5. They are tasked to “follow the doctors and observe them”, or, as Munsch reiterated in the teaser as “ghosting”.

Hester Ulrich (Lea Michele) will also be re-casted this season, although she is groomed to be “one of the good guys”, even though “everyone is obviously thinking” that she’s behind the murders again. With her is Zayday Williams (Keke Palmer) as a promising medical student, while Chad Radwell (Glen Powell) will probably be his old self, as well as Denise Hemphill (Niecy Nash).

Alongside the mainstays, Scream Queens Season 2 will likewise announce several new casts such as the hospital’s head surgeon, Dr. Brock Holt (John Stamos), Dr. Cassidy Cascade (Taylor Lautner) and Chamberlain Jackson (James Earl).

While Scream Queens is not for everyone, especially for those with overpowering machismo, it can put up a good fight when it comes to block-time audiences. Yes, some of the reviews might be harsh, sometimes hard, but Ryan Murphy still has a trick or two up his sleeve to entice viewers and make this season and the next worth spending our free and valuable time.
