Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson was stabbed in the back of his head by his brother Andrew on Wednesday. The knife fight incident occurred at 4 a.m. in the front yard of a residence in Clive, Iowa. Authorities said, they believe the fight started inside the home, but moved outside after it got physical. Both brothers were reportedly drunk and sustained a non-life threatening stab wounds. They were taken to hospitals in separate ambulances.

The 41-year-old Slipknot guitarist has no prior criminal offenses in Iowa, while his brother, Andrew Thomson, 35, was once arrested for public intoxication in Polk County. However, this isn’t the first high-profile incident involving Slipknot band members in the Des Moines area. The band’s bassist, Paul Gray died of a drug overdose at an Urbandale motel in May 2010.

Slipknot formed in Des Moines in the 1990s. The metal band has eight Grammy nominations and most recently won in 2006. Meanwhile, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor tweeted that he’d heard his bandmate was “Ok”. “We’re sending him all your thoughts“, the singer wrote. “Thank you for that“.

Slipknot is set to embark on a North American tour next month, and the band’s manager said, that the guitarist would definitely be present for the tour kickoff in Fort Myers, Florida on April 25th. The tour will run through late May, after which Slipknot will head to Europe for a run before returning to the U.S. for a summer tour, spanning July through September.
