Three Filipino Contestants in Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3

Asia’s Next Top Model is back now on its 3rd Season. Last year, the Philippines came close to winning Asia’s Next Top Model Season 2, our very own Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez placed 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up in the show. Aside from them, Stephanie Retuya placed 1st runner-up in the show’s first season.

This year, Asia’s Next Top Model is back with new models and a new host. Model Georgina Wilson takes over the hosting duties from Nadya Hutagalung, while international model Joey Mead returns to coach the aspiring models in their quest to win the ultimate prize. For the Cycle 3 debut episode, the models were asked to pose for a photo shoot with the theme of “High Fashion in Mind”. Meet the three Filipino Contestants in Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3.

1. Amanda Bianca Chan, 17, the youngest among all competitors, and the first model of the season to be declared safe from elimination after winning the “Best Photo” during the pilot episode of the show aired Wednesday. She looked stunning in her colorful matching two-piece bikini, impressing the four judges, including, the Filipino-British model Georgina Wilson, Australian fashion designer Alex Perry, model Joey Mead King, and acclaimed photographer Mike Rosenthal.

2. Marlena Monika Sta. Maria, graduated in La Salle with a Psychology degree, and has been modeling for quite some time. She is perhaps best known as one of Century Tuna’s Superbod winners. This is the second time she auditioned for the show. She previously auditioned with Jodilly and Katarina in season 2 but did not make it. Monika said she wants to pursue her dream and try her luck not only in Asia, but in other regions as well. This season, she nabbed the second best photo.

3. Franchesca Denise Lagua, who is said to be the granddaughter of OPM legend Yoyoy Villame, has appeared in commercials and walked for Bench and at Fashion Week. Her first commercial was for Enervon. According to her, she has never joined any competition, thus she is not very competitive and always tried to be friends with everyone in the show. She also said, that the experience was fun, crazy and stressful.

Meanwhile, Shareeta Selvaraj, a 24-year-old model from Malaysia, was the first one to be eliminated from the competition.

Asia’s Next Top Model is a counterpart of the popular American reality show, America’s Next Top Model, created and hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks.
