Using facial scrubs and exfoliating washes can be good but if your skin is dehydrated, these scrubs and facial washes can make your dry skin worst. When using scrubs and washes; use those that are specially designed for dry skin. Using a hydrating face mask will enable your skin to be hydrated deep down. Night and day moisturizer will greatly help. Day moisturizer should be light and should be used to prepare your skin for an even make up application. If your day moisturizer is heavy, your skin may look shiny and will feel oily. Night moisturizer should be heavier as it needs to go into your skin for longer hydration. Always choose moisturizer that is not oil based and those that are very gentle to the skin without perfume or color. Carefully choosing your moisturizer will help you make sure that it will not irritate your skin. More often than not, the best moisturizers are the ones that are cheapest and simplest. If you have a particular dry area, use a small amount of an oil based cream. Use this in moderation as too much will produce clog pores and blemishes.

Using less make up will help as too much make up is bad for dry skin. Do not apply foundation on dry area as this will turn orange and will make skin flaky. Dry patches on the skin will be more noticeable. It is best to use light and good quality mineral make up which will even out your complexion but do not forget to use moisturizer before applying a make-up. Try to choose skin products that contains vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant that will give your skin protection from the harmful environmental factors and will help collagen production. Collagen will give your skin a new, healthful look.

Hydrating your skin also requires you hydrate inside out. Drink lots of water each day. 8 glasses of water each day will help clear spots and hydrate skin. Bad skin quality is sometimes the result of poor diet and vitamin deficiency. Make it a point to eat fruits, protein rich foods, vegetables and exercise regularly.

Avoid bad habits like excessive alcohol intake and smoking. Too much caffeine intake will drain all the moisture on your skin. You will notice in time that your skin is sagging because of these habits. Keep these habits to a minimum for your skin hydration.

Avoid exposing your skin to extreme sunlight and intense heat as this may harm your skin’s moisture level. Make sure you are protected from these environmental elements. UV light exposure can cause brown spots and wrinkles. Apply anti-aging products to help combat any damage that may occur and to protect your skin from the aging effects of intense sunlight and UV rays.
