The official weather bureau of the Philippines which is no other than but PAGASA has already declared almost 6 areas under Signal No.2 last night, as Tropical Storm Mario is heading towards the direction of Northern Luzon. Among the areas which are under that particular storm signal are: Isabela, Kalinga Apayao, Abra and Ilocos Norte. Meanwhile, Signal No.1 was hoisted over Catanduanes, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur, La Union and the Batanes Group of Islands. As of 7:00 in the evening last night, PAGASA has forecasted that Typhoon Mario will bring some rainfall at a rate of 7-20 millimeter per hour within an exclusive diameter of 350 km per diameter.

Prior to this Tropical Storm Mario was estimated at 436 kms in the eastern section of Baler. As such, its maximum winds are about 65 kilometers per hour near the center. On the other hand, the gustiness of TS Mario has been estimated at 80 kph.

Today, Typhoon Mario and the intensifying southwest monsoon rains will surely bring moderate to heavy rains as well as some thunderstorms. Among the areas which will be severely affected are Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas. These rains could trigger flash floods and landslides, according to PAGASA. This evening, tropical storm Mario is expected to move towards Aparri, Cagayan. Likewise, it will head going to Kalayaan Islands on Saturday evening. Thus, tropical storm Mario will go to the north-northeast direction of Basco Batanes at 493 kilometers per hour. Generally, the National Disaster Coordinating Council is doing some disaster preparedness drills whenever a storm like this will suddenly intensify and thereby would affect those people who are living in low -lying areas that will be directly hit by tropical storm Mario.
